EQOS Energie withdraws from German catenary systems business in long-distance transport

2. January 2019
  • SPITZKE SE takes over the business field as part of a transfer of operations

As part of the continuing focus on the core business and profitability increase, EQOS Energie Deutschland GmbH has withdrawn from the catenary systems business of long-distance railways as of 1 January 2019. EQOS Energie selectively expands all other profit centres of the Railway Technology business unit in Germany, Austria and Belgium, which will therefore remain unaffected by this change. In parallel, targeted acquisitions are investigated in the Overhead Lines, Energy and Communications Technology business units in order to strengthen them in a sustained manner.

By transferring essential operating resources and through the entry of SPITZKE SE into individual construction contracts of EQOS Energie, SPITZKE has taken over the business of the Long-Distance Railway/Catenary Systems profit centre as part of the transfer of operations. Associated devices, vehicles and work equipment of the Long-Distance Railway profit centre were sold to SPITZKE. The handling of the remaining projects will be done by changing contractors or by concluding subcontracting agreements with SPITZKE.

“With SPITZKE, EQOS Energie has found a sustainable enterpreneur and business partner for the Long-Distance Railway profit centre and we know our employees are in the best possible hands,” said Eric Mendel, CEO and chairman of the management. “The entire management would like to thank those who have frequently gone the extra mile for our long-distance railway customers over the past years. We wish them all the best with their new employer.”
