EQOS Energie is Modernising the TenneT Substation

Modernisation of the primary and secondary technology for the seven-figure contract in Helmstedt in about 1.5 years

EQOS Energie is modernising the 380 kV substation and the TenneT part of the 110 kV substation in Helmstedt. The contracting authority for the seven-figure project and owner and operator of the 380 KV station is TenneT TSO GmbH; TenneT operates the 110 kV station together with AVACON. “We have many years of experience in energy technology especially in the area of construction and modernisation of substations,” said Robert Schaetzke, Executive Director at EQOS Energie. “Among other things, we are planning the complete modernisation of the existing secondary technology in the 380 kV substation as well as the modernisation of two transformer switching panels in the 110 kV substation and the local TenneT secondary technology”. The work in Helmstedt is expected to continue until fall 2017.

At the 380 kV substation, the safety and control technology will be modernised in addition to the secondary wiring, and the entire auxiliary system will be replaced. The ageing secondary technology, which is responsible for controlling the primary technology, will be dismantled piece by piece and then reconstructed in the plant building and in the control cells. The circuit-breakers in two switching panels will also be replaced, and the voltage transformer in the coupling will be expanded.

At the 110 kV station, both TenneT input switching panels will be modernised in terms of primary technology, and two new buildings will also be constructed for auxiliary power and the secondary technology. In addition, the steel support structures and the foundation of both switching panels will be dismantled and then rebuilt. In all areas affected by such measures, the secondary wiring will be completely modernised, and the corresponding cable trenches will be created for all high-voltage equipment.
